“I think back to that day in early June when I walked through the wellness fair at Edgewood, and I met up with Gail, who was answering questions about a program offered by Edgewood. The program offered private life coaching by Gail who is a certified wellness coach. The program sounded interesting. So I said to myself, self what the heck why not. Edgewood is offering; why not take them up on it. So I signed up with her that day. I didn’t know it would involve soooo much homework, but I started with the 19 page wellness assessment. (Very enlightening).
After this large homework assignment I got to have my 1st meeting with Gail. This took place at Dunkin Donuts. (I know of all places right). But I did it, and Gail helped me set 3 month goals & weekly goals. I came away from that 1st meeting feeling torn. Do I want all that work or should I walk away? But I needed to take the challenge and go on the journey with Gail’s guidance, to find out just what I’m made of.
I have found that I have a lot of knowledge, but knowledge alone doesn’t do me any good without drive. And the challenge gives me drive and the goals give the challenge direction. At 1st I thought it was going to be all about weight, but through the journey I have found it is so much more. I have found throughout my life that I can lose weight, but I want to keep it off, be healthy and feel good about myself and what I do.
Gail has been able to pull me out of me. And allow me to plan my journey without realizing it’s really been me leading the way. Gail may make suggestions regarding directions, but I make the map for the journey and follow it.
This has been a great gift from Edgewood. And an enjoyable journey with Gail, this is something that has given me direction and the means to follow the map on the rest of my journey. Thank you Edgewood & Gail.”
“Being from Texas, I’ve never really had a golf “off season”, until I came to Massachusetts. I was talking to Gail one evening about the benefits of golf specific exercises that I could do to improve my game, while not actually playing. In just a few short weeks, I have increased my drive by a good 20 yards…sometimes more. The Golf Program is a perfect blend of weight exercises for strength and stretching exercises for flexibility. I never knew how important flexibility was to your golf swing, and I’ve got a lot of work still to do (to become more flexible). I can’t wait to see the future results!”
“When I first started working for Avid, my office abutted the gym. I knew I should take advantage of the facility, but I procrastinated. I know how to do that well. The people I saw exercising awed me, as they seemed to know what they were doing. I was afraid to look awkward and worried that I would have problems mastering all the machines. Gail announced via e-mail that a new exercising session would begin. I mustered all my courage and timidly told her that I would be interested in joining. I told myself I could still back out if I felt really uncomfortable. I was not prepared for Gail’s enthusiasm and encouragement. I now exercise at least twice a week. Gail makes sure that I use the machines correctly; follows my progress very closely; and leaves me notes whenever she feels that I need to increase some weights. In no time at all I was comfortable and I made new friends. My clothes fit better; my muscles are getting bigger; and it is wonderful to be stronger. I swear I can almost feel my bones getting denser! But most of all I feel so much better mentally and physically as I am truly doing something good for myself. Not only is the facility wonderful (What a perk! Thank you Avid) But Gail’s guidance makes all the difference.”
“Once I got into the Zone – I felt terrific! I had more energy. I felt less sleepy during the day–no more after lunch slumps. And best of all, I was not hungry all the time (I had been eating “three squares with heavy carbohydrates” daily and was hungry all the time). I was attracted to the Zone program because it seemed to emphasize balance. The idea of a moderate amount of fat, protein and carbohydrates in each meal just made good common sense to me. After only three days of strictly following the Zone, you can feel the positive results I describe. I don’t count my grams to death anymore (remember, it’s a range). I know when I am close, and I feel it when I get out of whack. If I am off, I trot over to the cafeteria for a glass of 1% milk (or some other “Zone remedy”) and in less than an hour I am feeling great again!”
“The truth is, I don’t like exercising much! However, I hate being out of shape even more. So, last fall I decided to join the exercising program under Gail’s supervision and careful monitoring. The benefits have been very positive. I am physically stronger, my energy level has increased and I am less stressed. Consistently doing weight training has helped reduce my chronic neck and shoulder pain. Overall, the exercising program has been very beneficial physically and mentally. I have also lost a few inches and I really enjoy it!”
“Edgewood, a continuing care retirement community located in North Andover, MA has benefitted tremendously from the professional wisdom and passion of Gail Migliozzi. We are a typical healthcare organization that works tirelessly seven days a week, twenty four hours a day, serving others. As typical caregivers, we found most of our staff put their own well-being on the back burner to serve others first. Every employer wants their employees to be healthier but we just didn’t know where to begin! Thankfully, Ms. Migliozzi came into our community, and within three short years, she has transformed our lives. She educated our community about exercise, nutrition, and overall wellness. We are now a smoke free campus, with a self sustaining wellness program that our employees greatly appreciate. The employees of Edgewood feel it was Ms. Migliozzi’s influence that transformed their lives. When our community needed a personal cheerleader, she was there with both knowledge and encouragement.
Thank you Gail for your service and dedication to our community! We greatly appreciate all you have done. I would highly recommend you for any company seeking to improve overall employee wellness, which has resulted in improved productivity.”

“If you are looking for a personal coach, that is PERSONAL, Gail is the one for you! She works with you on a professional level, with a personal touch. I have struggled with weight loss for years. I worked out at one of those “just for women gyms” for six months with a personal trainer, with no success. Gail helped me to finally reach my goals in even less time – I lost 2 sizes, 16 pounds, and 2” on my waist! She works with you on both nutrition & training getting you the maximum results. She will also set you up with a long term plan, so you can maintain the weight you have lost & the knowledge you have gained. I highly recommend her!”
“I decided to try the Fresh Start Smoking Cessation class offered at my company because I never quit smoking more than 6 months on my own. I wanted to permanently quit this time and thought it would be better to try roughing it out with others. The classes were helpful because I learned that others struggled as badly as I did – in fact the withdrawal symptoms were not an imaginary excuse to start smoking again! I liked the fact that we all picked our own quit date during the course and it was not a forced date. I also like that when someone fell off the wagon Gail offered support and encouragement, and helped us learn from it rather than badgering. It has been a little over 2 -1/2 years since I quit smoking and I feel fortunate that I was able to stay quit. I know I have the skills from the class to stay smokefree.”
“Fortunately for me I attended the company’s health and wellness event where Gail was the fitness director. I took a fat/muscle test and learned my fat ratio was too high. Gail convinced me to attend one of her classes at the gym. I agreed, halfheartedly, to attend one class. With Gail’s encouragement and motivational skills this one class multiplied into hundreds. Most importantly, she does not only focus on exercise but all aspects of health. Gail gave me valuable nutritional advice that I have incorporated into my daily eating habits. She gave me the support and encouragement I needed to quit a 35 year smoking habit! I have not smoked for over 10 years and have no desire to smoke. I am very grateful toward Gail and that one class I agreed to take 14 years ago.”
“When it comes to changing habits and getting back in shape, nothing beats a good partner to keep you on track. Gail is the perfect partner, prodding, guiding, goading, coaxing…whatever it takes for me to reach my health and fitness goals. We got together 6 months ago and designed my vision, motivations, and goals. There’s no way I’d be exercising and taking care of myself so well if it weren’t for Gail. She still remembers my goals and pulls them out to encourage me!. Working with her has made the difference in really making my goals into habits – I could not get this done on my own.”
